FMSMUN will commence on February 21, 2009. Delegates from around the state will arrive in the morning to tackle world issues and argue from the perspective of the country they represent. This conference is as much an exercise in debate as it is an exercise in role-playing. Delegates will be asked to step into the role of ambassador for the country they are representing. The world is a very complex, diverse place. Issues that affect us in the United States have a far different impact elsewhere in the world. One of the goals of our academic mission is to broaden the horizons of delegates in order for them to gain greater perspective for the cultural and international differences throughout the world. Each committee will have a topic and a background guide that details the basics of the issue to be discussed. On the day of the conference, delegates will debate the issues and attempt to pass resolutions in order to deal with them.
